City of Goleta Update
Nov 28, 2017
Hear first hand what is happening in the City of Goleta from Michelle Greene, City Manager of Goleta. Ms. Greene has been with the City for the last thirteen years. She started out as a Management Analyst and demonstrated her value to the organization, rising to the positions of Administrative Services Director and later Deputy City Manager before filling the Interim City Manager post when.Goleta’s former City Manager, Dan Singer, resigned in April 2014 to take a position as the City Manager for the City of Poway In the twelve years prior to coming to Goleta, Ms. Greene held a number of public offices, including the City Clerk/Personnel Manager in Grover Beach and the Assistant City Manager in Escalon. Ms. Greene graduated from the University of California Berkley before beginning course work on a Masters of Public Policy through the University of Southern California. She has guided the City in the development of some of its most important policies and programs and assured that the organization is moving forward on a sound footing. Her experience within the City has afforded Ms. Greene the perspective necessary for an organizational vision which will effectively implement the policy vision of the City Council.

Update on the program for the girls and boys programs plus award scholaarships
Apr 24, 2018
The goal of Los Prietos Boy Camp Program is to return youth to the community as responsible and productive members of society. Discipline, respect and responsibility are the motto of the facility. The program embraces a zero-gang tolerance philosophy and strives to provide pro-social training, opportunities and life experiences that help to broaden a boy's world view, as well as his attitude toward all community. The program provides work and vocational training, counseling, drug and alcohol programming, religious and spiritual expression, and promotes volunteer and community work service. The Rotary Club of Goleta Noontime will make our annual contribution to the LPBC Scholarship Program at this meeting. |

Rancho Alegre rebuild after Whittier Fire
May 08, 2018 11:44 AM
Friend of Rancho Alegre and Los Padres Council, Boy Scouts of America we wanted to update you on the status of Rancho Alegre since the Whittier Fire in July. A dedicated group of Los Padres Council volunteers, the Phoenix Committee, have been meeting weekly since the fire. As you may recall the fire destroyed forty seven of fifty structures in the camp. Since the fire we have completed demolition and removal of debris, both at the main camp and at Larsen Meadows. Working with our insurance provider, we have received $5 million earmarked for Rancho Alegre rebuilding. We continue to work with our insurance company in hopes to receive additional funds.
We are in the process of arranging for a capital campaign to begin in 2018. We are hopeful that you might a consider a gift to move us toward our reconstruction goals. Your contribution can be made out to Los Padres Council, BSA and mailed to our headquarters at 4000 Modoc Rd. Santa Barbara, CA 93110 with RA in the memo line. You can also make your donation online by visiting our website www.lpcbsa.org . If you have any questions please call or email Carlos Cortez, Scout Executive at 805-967-0105 carlos.cortez@scouting.org Yours in Scouting., |
